The Gesher class has been busy, busy busy! In March, the main focus was having the children practicing writing their names by tracing over their names with pencils and painting their names using water colors. The class used this skill to help them learn to recognize the first letter of their names as well.
For Passover, at the end of March, the class sang songs like “Where is Baby Moses” and “O, Listen King Pahraoh” with Ms. Ronit in music class. They performed the songs at the school wide Passover sing a long. The class also learned about Passover by making their own Matzah and creating some Passover art.
In April, the main focus was Springtime and Earth Day. The class learned about what is needed to help plants grow. They also learned about caterpillars and their different life stages, and finished their caterpillar lesson by making Caterpillar art by using balloons. For Earth Day, the class made World Art to help them celebrate. The children loved learning why it is so important to take care of our planet. The children also enjoyed making pots, decorating them with beautiful colors, and planting parsley in them.
The books the Gesher class read, all had a spring time theme. They read, “Magic School Bus: Plants and Seeds”, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, and “Today is the Birthday of the World”.
