Our Philosophy
We believe in play-based curriculum that allows students to build on their curiosity and creativity in a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the Judaic morals and values. Transitional Kindergarten is considered the bridge (Gesher) to kindergarten. Gesher places emphasis on classroom work, projects, and activities that encourage social interactions, relationship building, independence, fine and gross motor skills, and academics. The program challenges each child as an individual socially, emotionally, and academically thus allowing children to discover and grow their own strengths in a caring and nurturing school environment. Gesher is truly a gift of an extra year.
Curriculum
Gesher uses a modified Kindergarten curriculum, parallel to that of the public school district. It is age and developmentally appropriate, and emphasizes social behavior, play, language, mathematics, literacy, and writing skills. The class is designed with a practice-based approach based on cognitive and motor skills. The day is structured, and students learn classroom respect and independence.
