September has been the month of apples in the Gesher class, and the children have a lot of fun projects that were centered around Rosh hashanah and the new year The children used apples to do stamping with paint for a fun art project. Another fun activity the class enjoyed was talking about different colored apples and how they look and taste different. They read, “The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree” by Gail Gibbons, which was a fun book about apples that the children enjoyed very much.
During the first few weeks of school, they also discussed how we can be better friends to one another, and making sure we take the time to help friends when they are sad. They read “Monster Knows I’m Sorry”, by Connie Colwell Miller that helped the children better understand one another’s feelings.
The class is now gearing up for October by talking about the fall leaves changing color. They will also be discussing the fall harvest, and the holiday of Sukkot.
