In December it was all about Chanukah and we loved painting various pictures of chanukiot and dreidels. We also loved making our own dreidels out of markers and old cds that we could watch spin and make swirling marks on paper. We even counted candles and made different colored patterns.
Right now our focus is number recognition and counting. The children loved the Chanukah counting mats we had and would match the number that was shown to the amount of candles and dreidels that were added to finish out the picture.
We loved the book “The Borrowed Hannukah Latkes” because it was all about how nice it is to share and spend the holidays with all the special people in our lives.
The children love cooking activities and this month was no different! We made dreidels out of fig newtons and the children even made their own butter for challah by shaking heavy whipping cream in a jar. We then added a little bit of honey to sweeten it up and it was an yummy treat for Friday snack!
