With the start of the school year, Parparim 1 focused on getting to know new and old friends. We created leaf families where the children could show the members of their families. This provided an opportunity to discuss different family dynamics. We learned that everyone’s family is a little different, and that’s what makes our families so special.
We celebrated Sukkot by making many different decorations for the Sukkah: yarn shaped apples, Jonah and the Whale sun catchers, and a big poster to top it all off. To pair with the wonderful activities, we read books to help explain the holidays:
Leo & Blossom’s Sukkah
Our First Sukkah
The Hardest Word
Jonah and the Whale
We have also been working on our handy fine motor skills. We love to play with play-dough and slime. We worked on our cutting skills by practicing with scissors. We plan on working more in detail with these skills as we practice more of our language and literacy skills in the classroom.
For October we want to focus on language, literacy and sensory exploration through cooking. So look out for tasty and healthy treats in the weeks to come!
